Hugh McBride (b. 1957) is a photographer with an interest in documentary work and environmental portraiture centered on human connection and mystery. Working in both digital and traditional analog formats, he studies actively with Toronto-based multi-disciplinary artist Lyla Rye. From 2022 to 2024, he mentored with English photographer Siân Davey (short-listed for the Prix Pictet in 2023). He has participated in numerous group and held three solo exhibitions. In 2015, his image, Sharon, was awarded Best Figurative at Dark Room 4.0, a juried group exhibition held as part of the CONTACT Photography Festival in Toronto. He lives in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada with his wife Robin and cat Poe.
