While keeping true to photography with the highest respect for my
subjects, I have employed fine craftsmanship and a honed philosophy
to express the interrelationships between these subjects and their
environments, creating an historical record and a personal statement.
In civilization, forces of survival formed by the varied cultures
with their similarities, invoke the individual to question their essential
purpose with respect to personal and spiritual growth. In the
natural landscape, the fine balance and power of nature reveals
similar patterns of creation and purpose, which when respected, are helpful to our balanced growth. The photographic vision I have created of these
different yet related entities, expresses the resoluteness of nature
and our delicate human condition.

Adrian Searle is a refined photographer and printer of people and
traditional landscapes. Pursuing Sociological and Anthropological
studies at Carleton University in the early 70's, preceded his desire for
cultural expression. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Ryerson
University (T.M.U.) in 1982, and as a member of C.A.P.I.C., he owned and operated a large-format commercial, architectural /
industrial business for twenty-five years offering corporate identity
to architects, engineers, designers and various government agencies
for national and international publications and awards including
Canadian Architect; Progressive Architecture; Archi.Tech; Interiors;
Canada Post; Enercan; Ottawa Living; Ottawa Carleton Home Builders
Awards (O.C.H.B.A.); Illuminating Engineering Society of North
America (I.E.S.N.A.); International Association of Lighting
Designers (I.A.L.D.), and the Royal Architectural Institute Of Canada National Urban Design Awards.
During this same period, he pursued various
personal studies of Landscape in the Canadian Shield and Social
Documentary in Canada, Ireland and England, and has now turned his
talents full-time to expressing these as an art form. He has sold
various pieces to corporate and private clients, and has exhibited in the Ryerson Gallery Toronto, Michael Gennis Gallery Ottawa, and some private showings in Ottawa. In 2022 he established The Photo Collective to support a group of like-minded photographers working with traditional black and white film. Adrian also gives
